::Tulle Skirts::

I have some new fun skirts in the bigcartel shoppe. (Hopefully they will make it to the Etsy shoppe soon!)

I also made my daughter model one for me :)
She didn't want to cooperate very much....


We were @ Grandma's and she had cousins there to play with so she had 'better places to be'.
She pretty much RAN when I told her she was done & could go play...

Some of the tulle I found is so fun because it has 'sparkles' in it! Definitely a plus with my girly-girl!

I have a handful of colors that I am working on getting made and into the shoppe(s) soon. This week. :)

So.....

I have been just a little (okay, ALOT) m.i.a. when it comes to AJ's Bowtique blog.
My apologies.

It's not that I have been slacking in all things 'crafty' but it's almost an over-load of all things crafty.

Since starting to work at The Gathering Place, I have taken a little journey.

I have started writing patterns! It wasn't until I really started diving into the whole pattern process that I actually realized how much work goes into writing/creating a pattern!

Here is what I have done so far.....


This last one has been by FAR my best seller (and one of my FAVORITES!)

I have two more quilts that are complete, just needs to be written and I have been toying around with a few ideas for more items, but I haven't quite yet finalized them nor have I put any of them to the test of actually drawing up/putting it together.

I have also found a new love....

Knits.

I have absolutely LOVED sewing and creating with them!

I actually made my daughter's dress that she wore to the first day of pre-school (per her request!) .

I am going to try this whole blog thing again.....hopefully this time it doesn't die off :)

Craft Fair

Well, it has come and gone and I am exhausted!
The night before the big day I only got 3 hours of sleep and after a (long) full day of standing in my booth, I was in bed at 9 and didn't get out until 9 this morning!

Here are some pictures of my booth. I decided Wednesday morning to make some receiving blankets (11!!) and then Thursday afternoon I was making some more tutu's!
As soon as we got to the school to set up I was VERY surprised by how small an 8x10 booth is! :)
After all the totes, boxes, table, hutch, bench, clothes and quilt rack and all 4 pegboard panels were hauled in I was starting to get worried that I had too much! :)

It all turned out, and I owe a HUGE thanks to my dear friend Lindsay for helping us haul all the goodies inside and help me set up. I couldn't have done it without her!
My sister and Lindsay helped me out in the booth the day of and I have to say thanks to them again!

The one person that really really needs a big shout out is the hubby. He put up with me through all this. He built my peg walls, then had to take them apart, shorten them and put them back together! AND THEN he was there for the hauling in and taking down of all my stuff. Thanks Troy! Love ya!

Overall, I had a great experience and learned alot. Most likely I will do it again, but maybe I will KNOW for sure in a couple weeks after I get some much needed down time. :)

The booth

My trusty hutch. This hutch use to be at my parents while I was growing up. Shortly after Troy and I moved into our house, it was given to me. It has sat in our garage until this week. It worked out great for the booth. :) Thanks Mom! Notice the skirt on the mannequin??? That was my best custom order request. The one on display was Taylor's so it wasn't for sale. If it was it would have sold fast.....

All of my many skirts, dresses and blessing dresses.

The wall with all the hair bows. There would have been more on the wall, but we ran out of pegs so the table had a lot of baskets holding bows. The table also held all the cute little ties for the boys. The diaper envelopes were a big seller too.

The back wall. Those little capes went really fast. Super man on one side and batman on the other??? How could one resist??? I also had pink/purple with princess crowns for the girls.


Ahhhh, the receiving blankets I decided to make last minute. Along with my purses. I love that bench. We have A LOT of pictures with that as a photo prop and holding my stuff.

Burp rags in the basket. And the top seller of the day, the crayon wallets. Those went so fast!
Note to self: do A LOT MORE next time :)

Quilts & skirts
The little pillows you see hanging, were tooth fairy pillows.

The front shot of the quilts. The second one down was touched by so many people it was crazy!
I was a little surprised it took until the end of the day to finally sell.

New Blessing Dress

I finished this blessing dress almost two weeks ago, I was such a slacker in getting pictures taken and posting it!

It is simple, but I think it turned out beautiful!

Birthday Outfit

My daughter turned three last Sunday.
Which having a birthday land on a Sunday called for a new skirt to wear to church :) Okay, so that is just my excuse to make her {another} skirt!

Sophia Blessing Dress

One of my best friends from High School just had a precious baby girl right before Christmas.
Before her birth, her Mom asked if I would make the blessing dress. I was honored and scared at the same time :)

She wanted something long and simple. I finished the dress last night and I am ecstatic with the results!
I really enjoyed making this dress for the special occasion that I will be making more in the future and adding them to my Etsy Store!
The little one was named Sophia, so appropriately this dress will be forever known as the "Sophia Dress."

Em, I hope you love the dress as much as I do!

Simple Twirl Skirt

Yes, I made another skirt!




I just can't get enough of sewing these days!
Don't worry, I am in the process of making some new bows to add to my store so please don't give up on me just yet! :)

Stripe Twirl Skirt

My daughter is in LOVE with dresses and skirts that she can 'dan' (dance) in! She can go days wearing her favorite dress, but I am forced to hide it once in awhile to let her other clothes get some wear!

With her new obsession it's only appropriate that she receives this super full, stripe work skirt...perfect for twirling!






Fabric for this skirt was totally inspired by these shoes...


...that have also become her new favorite...which she will wear everyday if not hidden!

Goldilocks & Baby Bear

A good friend of mine let me borrow her sons Bear Halloween Costumes for my son. I am HUGE into themes so appropriately my daughter became Goldilocks.

I found this super cute yellow with white flower material to make a dress out of, but soon decided that it would be WAY too much yellow for my eyes to handle at once. Plus I wanted something that if I was going to take the time to make, I wanted it to be able to be something I would put on her again and again.

I went back to the fabric store and found two coordinating materials that came from the same line as the yellow material.

Then I had to make up my mind as to what I wanted the overall end product to look like. I used FOUR different patterns!

*I got the idea/sleeves out of one. (I went with 3/4 sleeves because Halloween in Idaho is usually pretty cold, it will be really cold if the snow keeps coming like we got over the weekend!)
*Body of the dress from another.
*Hem from a third.
*Apron from the fourth.

End result?!?!?

Goldilocks Modernized and totally hip! :)





Like stated before, I wanted something she could wear again, so I made a belt to replace the apron.
